Though football season isn’t completely over, next month it will already be time for baseball to restart. Scottsdale fans of the Colorado Rockies undoubtedly know that in February, the team begins training in our city.
You might recall that the co-owner of the team was arrested last November on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in Windsor, Colorado. Now CBS Sports and other media outlets are reporting that he has pleaded guilty to the charge and been sentenced to two years of supervised probation.
The 54-year-old who owns the team with his brother will be required to wear an alcohol detection device attached to his ankle for the first six months of probation.
The bracelet detects any intake of alcohol. The Rockies co-owner can also be required by authorities to submit up to two breathalyzer tests per day.
He reportedly had an alcohol breath concentration at the time of arrest exceeding three times the 0.08 percent legal limit.
In other DUI/DWI-related news reported locally, the driver suspected of crashing his vehicle into a Mesa hotel early this morning has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
A police officer said no one was injured in the crash in which the vehicle crashed through a wall and into the Travelodge Hotel’s office and lobby just after midnight.
The man apparently drove off afterward, but police stopped the badly damaged vehicle at an intersection and the motorist was taken into custody.
For anyone facing a DUI charge, the possible penalties are harsh, including jail time, loss of driving privileges, an increase in auto insurance rates, and more. An experienced DUI attorney can look at the evidence and help defendants minimize restrictions on their freedoms and driver’s licenses.
