If you are stopped or investigated on suspicion of drunk driving, you may be asked to submit to a number of tests. This might include using a Breathalyzer or performing a field sobriety test. Whether you do so or not is your choice, but that decision can affect theoutcome of the investigation. If you feel that the results of the tests could be incriminating, you might choose to decline them. However, doing so can result in the revocation of your driver’s license.

In Arizona, a 29-year-old mother found herself in trouble after deputies were called to a convenience store parking lot one evening. The young woman’s truck was found parked next to the store and appeared to have sustained damage to the front end. Her three children were waiting for her in the truck and allegedly informed deputies that their mother hadrun into two cows.

When the young woman emerged from the convenience store, she appeared to confirm that latter piece of information by gesturing at her vehicle and saying “cows.” Although she declined medical attention, deputies felt that they could smell alcohol on her breath. She agreed to a field sobriety test and admitted to having had two beers earlier on.

She was taken into custody where her blood-alcohol concentration was reported to have been 0.243 percent. Meanwhile, her children were taken to a medical center where one received medical attention. They were later released into the care of a relative. Their mother was booked into jail on charges relted to drunk driving on a suspended license, as well ashaving passengers younger than 15 in the vehicle while drunk driving.

Having her children in the car may have exacerbated the charges for this woman. If you find yourself facing similar charges, your circumstances could have an influence on the outcome of the investigation. Whatever the case, an attorney may be useful as he or she can help you analyze the circumstances of your arrest and determine whether there is a way toavoid conviction or have the charges against you reduced.
