In Arizona, many drivers are charged with drunk driving every year. However, not all of these drivers are guilty of the offenses for which they are investigated. Unfortunately, it is not always easy to determine an individual’s involvement in a crash and even though testing equipment used to measure a person’s blood alcohol concentration is often quite accurate, it is not always as reliable as it should be. Sadly, a false reading can lead to criminal charges.
As such, if you have been involved in crash and you know there is alcohol in your system, you may be tempted to leave before police arrive rather than failing a breath test. However, this could simply get you into more trouble as you might be charged with leaving the scene of an accident. In one such case, a 67-year-old man from Arizona is facing multiplecharges after allegedly hitting a utility pole and a tree.
The incident is reported to have occurred one afternoon in Maine. The driver is alleged to have crashed after mounting the curb, then backing up to leave the scene. No one was hurt in the accident and no one else was sharing the car. However, when apprehended at a nearby gas station, the man was allegedly found to have a BAC of 0.15. He now faces charges fordrunk driving and failing to report an incident.
Being charged with a DUI offense in Arizona is an unpleasant and daunting experience. It can be hard to know what to do next or where to turn. Penalties can often be severe and a conviction could turn your life upside-down. Fortunately, an attorney may be able to assist you. With the right guidance, you can prepare to deliver your side of the story to thecourt and work toward the best possible outcome to your trial.
